Well, I found I'd get invalid username/password errors randomly, and when I look into the profile section of the ftb launcher, my password is about 30-40 characters long. It added lots of random characters onto the end of my password, which then made it invalid obviously

Sorted by: 3. Invalid user means the ssh request was made by a user name on the system, "cni07" in this case. There is no user "cni07". User not allowed means there is a user, "root" in this case, but that user is not allowed to log in via ssh. This could be restricted by a variety of means in the sshd_config file. Share.
The easiest way to ensure the password is stored correctly is to go into your database program (or console) and enter SELECT SHA('my-plain-password'); and if it doesn't exactly match what's in the password column of the database table, then you know it's an issue with the password itself. – 5ZN3e5.
